Coburg offers a strong mix of local shops, public transport, community spaces and everyday services, making it a practical place to build independent living skills. Our Supported Independent Living in Coburg provides personalised support at home while helping participants take part in the routines and activities that matter to them. Support can include personal care, meals, household tasks, community access and overnight assistance.
SIL is NDIS funded support for participants who need regular assistance with daily life. It can be provided in shared living or an individual home and may include support from a few scheduled periods each day through to overnight or 24 hour care.
A SIL home should still feel like the participant’s home. That means having a say in routines, meals, activities and how support is delivered.
SIL may suit participants who:
Coburg’s Sydney Road precinct combines shopping, services and tram access, while Coburg Station provides rail connections on the Upfield line. These local features give participants practical opportunities to work on travel, shopping, budgeting and community access goals.
We support showering, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers and mobility with a focus on dignity and consistency. Morning and evening routines are based on the participant’s preferences.
Support can include grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry and home organisation. Participants can learn these tasks gradually with support rather than being excluded from them.
We help with budgeting, appointment planning, meal preparation, communication, public transport use and decision making. Sydney Road and Coburg Station provide useful real world settings for practising these skills.
We support appointments, local shopping, recreation, hobbies, social activities and visits with family or friends.
Where approved, SIL can include sleepover assistance, active overnight support, evening care and 24 hour staffing.
Initial conversation
We start with the participant’s current routine and what they want to change or improve.
Support needs review
We review the NDIS plan and identify where regular support is required.
Personalised planning
We develop practical routines for personal care, household tasks, community access and skill building.
Service agreement
We clearly document the agreed support and responsibilities.
Ongoing reviews
We adjust support as the participant’s confidence, health or goals change.
With consent, we work with families, guardians, support coordinators, plan managers, nurses and allied health professionals. The goal is consistent support without losing sight of the participant’s own choices.

Daily support matters, but so does what the participant is working towards. We use everyday routines and local community access as opportunities to build confidence over time.
